Target of 157 achieved in 18 overs; Player of the Match Shanto’s Fifty for Bangladesh

In a T20 International, the Bangladesh cricket team defeated the T20 and ODI world champion England by six wickets. In Chattogram, England scored 156 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs while batting first after losing the toss. As a response, Bangladesh reached the target with 4 wickets lost in 18 overs.

From Bangladesh, Najmul Hasan Shanto played a 51-run inning. Afif Hossain, who scored 15 runs and remained unbeaten while Shakib Al Hasan was bowling, gave his team the victory at the same time.

English team scattered after Butler-Salt

After losing the toss and deciding to bat first, England’s team got off to a strong start thanks to captain Jos Buttler and Phil Salt. For the first wicket, the pair combined for 80 runs in 10 overs. Once Salt had scored 38 runs, he was done. Buttler remained at one end after he left while wickets continued to fall at the other end.

Butler was removed after 67 runs were scored. In addition to them, Ben Duckett scored 20 runs, David Malan 4, Sam Karan 6, and Chris Woakes 1. Chris Jordan scored 5 runs, and Moeen Ali maintained his perfect record at 8. The maximum two wickets from Bangladesh were taken by Hasan Masmood. While Mustafizur Rahman, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, and Shakib Al Hasan each claimed one wicket.

Bangladesh made a quick start in their pursuit of the target of 157 thanks to Liton Das (12) and Ronnie Talukdar (21). In the fourth over, Ronnie was out, and in the fifth over, Litton Das. As the third batsman, Najmul Hasan Shanto (51) and Toddy Hridoy (24) combined for a third-wicket partnership of 65 runs in 39 balls.

Shakib and Afif put together an unbroken partnership of 46 off 34 balls following the dismissals of Shanto and Hridoy to lead their team to victory with 12 balls remaining. For England, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, and Moin Ali each secured one wicket. Shanto won the game’s MVP award with 51 runs scored.

England beat T20 for the first time

The men’s cricket team from England is the reigning ODI and T20 World Champion. Bangladesh has now defeated the team in T20s after defeating them in ODIs. This is the first time the two countries have played a T20 series. Previously, the only T20 match between the two was played in the 2021 World Cup, which England won.

The second match of the three-match T20 series will be played on March 12, and the third on March 14. Both matches will take place in Mirpur.
