Tikait stated that during their meeting, he brought up the problems of farmers in Congress-ruled states.

Rakesh Tikait stated that he raised the issue of the farmers of Chhattisgarh on whose land the state’s new capital is being built and that the farmers did not receive adequate compensation. RAKESH TIKAIT, WHAT DID RAHUL GANDHI SAY?

When asked about Rahul Gandhi’s response, Rakesh Tikait said the Congress leader told him about his meeting with sons of farmers during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, who he said wanted to pursue careers other than farming.

Tikait stated that Rahul Gandhi discussed with him a policy that would encourage young people to work in agriculture. At the same time, Rahul Gandhi promised that his party’s farmers’ affairs committee would include the MSP formula in the party manifesto.

WAS THE CONFERENCE POLITICAL?

Rakesh Tikait described the meeting as completely apolitical, saying that he regularly meets with political parties and that this meeting should be viewed in the same light. Tikait stated that he has no reservations about meeting with any political party, including the BJP, as long as they discuss farmer-related issues.

Rakesh Tikait stated that the government has not accepted his demands for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, so he is traveling throughout the country. In terms of the farmers’ vote bank, because different farmers favor different political parties, farmers’ organizations do not ask them to vote for anyone. Tikait, on the other hand, admitted that farmers are angry with the central government and would express their displeasure. It will be accomplished through voting in the upcoming elections.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Farmers’ organizations will hold a tractor rally in Jind, Haryana, on January 26th, which will be attended by farmers from various states. On January 28, the Bharatiya Kisan Union will go on indefinite strike in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, demanding higher sugarcane prices, MSP, and the withdrawal of cases filed against farmers. In the month of March, a maha panchayat will also be held in Delhi.
