Internet services in a war-ravaged Ukraine could be at a standstill. US space company SpaceX owner Elon Musk has pledged to continue the satellite-based internet services of his company Starlink in Ukraine.

Elon Musk has said that he cannot continue this service indefinitely. He has asked the US government to pay the bill for further services. Earlier on Thursday, media reports said that Starlink has informed the US military that it will no longer be able to afford internet services. Elon Musk has also confirmed this report. Starlink has played an important role in maintaining the country’s stalled communication system amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Musk wrote a letter to the Pentagon
Musk has written a letter to the Pentagon, the US Defense Headquarters, regarding his inability to continue Internet services this further. Musk tweeted that SpaceX is not asking for the old bill, but its inability to continue services indefinitely.
On the other hand, Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said that the US Department of Defense is in touch with Musk on this issue. He said the Pentagon has received a letter from the head of SpaceX. In the letter, Musk also said that $80 million has already been spent on Internet services in Ukraine. By the end of this year, this expenditure could reach $100 million.

Musk’s letter also proved the claim that the US, Poland and other countries had borne the cost of about 85 percent of the 20,000 terminals sent to Ukraine in the past. Musk said he could send a few more terminals to Ukraine, but could not afford internet services for a long time.
