Kejriwal discusses the death of a woman being pulled by a car with LG Saxena: “No political connection…

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, claimed on Monday that he had discussed the death of a 20-year-old woman who had been dragged by a car for nearly seven kilometers on Sunday with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. He also made a subtle jab at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Twitter by asserting that “no mercy should be granted” to the defendants, regardless of their “high political connections.”

“Reported about the Kanjhawala incident to the honorable LG. asked him to take strong action against the offenders, applying the toughest provisions of the IPC to them. Even if they have strong political connections, no tolerance should be offered. Kejriwal tweeted, “He promised he will take severe measures (sic).

Spoke to Hon’ble LG on Kanjhawala incident. Requested him to take exemplary action against culprits, strictest sections of IPC shud be slapped against them. No leniency shud be showed even if they have high political connections.

As he requested the death penalty for the five guys, who were apparently in a drunken state at the time of the incident, Kejriwal had emphasized earlier in the day stern action against the culprits. The daughter of anyone could experience this. He declared during a news conference that a convict should be executed regardless of how powerful or politically connected he is.

In response to the incident, Saxena had earlier stated that the “inhuman crime that occurred in Kanjhawla-Sultanpuri this morning hangs in disgrace over my head, and I am astonished at the hideous insensitivity of the offenders.”

Kejriwal’s “no leniency” jab at the saffron camp comes as his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suggested a connection between one of the defendants and the BJP. AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj addressed this at a press conference earlier that day.

The L-G is aware of a BJP leader’s role in the incident, thus there is a cover-up throughout. After tweeting images of hoardings in Delhi featuring Mittal’s photos on Monday, along with fellow AAP leaders Durgesh Pathak and Gaurav Rai, Bharadwaj remarked, “I dare Vinay Saxena to publicize the call numbers of the accused. A post regarding this assertion was also shared on the AAP’s official Twitter account.

Meanwhile, three days of police custody have been given to each of the five suspects. According to persons with knowledge of the situation who spoke to HT, this followed Delhi Police adding sections of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the five defendants in connection with the accident. Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC were added to Section 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC against the five individuals, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Harendra K Singh. Bail was admissible in the earlier filed sections, but not in Section 304.
