“He is a social worker who would often help people make stay arrangements for students,” stated the wife of one of the guys who had been arrested

Two Patna residents were hauled into custody on Thursday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which had taken over the NEET-UG paper “leak” investigation from the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) in Bihar. On May 4, the day before the exam, the two allegedly made plans for lodging for NEET-UG examinees; on that same day, they also allegedly committed the answered paper to memory. In addition to five further arrests made later, there are 13 accused in this case, including the four examinees.

Manish Prakash was detained by the CBI in Patna for allegedly helping to arrange lodging at the request of Ashutosh Kumar, who was later detained from the state capital.

“The CBI called me around 1.30 pm to say that my husband has been arrested,” claimed Prakash’s wife Archana. As a social worker, he frequently assisted individuals in setting up accommodations for pupils. I overheard someone phoning him to beg for help setting up things for four or five pupils. We were unaware of the severe difficulties he is currently facing.

On Wednesday, the CBI made an additional attempt to locate the primary suspect, Sanjiv Mukhiya, who has been evading capture from his hamlet in Nalanda. According to the CIA, Mukhiya may have escaped to Nepal.

Additional information about Sikandar Yadavendu, a major accused who has already been taken into custody by the Bihar police, has also been sent to the agency. The four examinees were supposedly introduced to “setters” Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand by Yadavendu.

Based on a report submitted to the Center by the Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit, the National Testing Agency (NTA) threatened to debar 17 candidates in Patna with show-cause notices on Sunday.

The governments of Gujarat and Bihar made notices to the CBI to transfer their local NEET-UG “paper leak” cases to the central agency following the CBI’s registration of the criminal case.
