The couple died in a car fire while en route to the hospital as the wife gave birth

Kannur (Kerala): On Thursday, a car carrying a pregnant woman and her husband caught fire near the district government hospital, killing both of them tragically, according to the police.
Prijith (35), and his wife Reesha (26), who are natives of the district’s Kuttiattoor, have been named as the fatalities.

According to them, the event happened when Reesha, who was complaining of labour pains, was being driven to the hospital.

Fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene as soon as they received the information, completely put out the fire, and took Prijith and Reesha to safety—but they were already dead

Four of the six passengers—including a youngster in the back seat—were able to flee the burning automobile when it took fire.

They stated that the victims’ fellow passengers had been taken to a hospital.

“They are unharmed. They are being examined while at the hospital “Reporters were briefed by Kannur City Police Commissioner Ajit Kumar during his visit to the accident scene.

He claimed that because they were unable to open the front door of the flaming Maruti S-Presso, a 2020 model, the victims appeared to have become stuck inside.

Locals claim that the deceased woman was pregnant. They made unsuccessful attempts to save the pair by opening the front door of the automobile.

TV footage showed the on-site locals rushing toward the on-fire automobile to save the unfortunate couple who had become trapped inside of it.

“The moment the front of the automobile caught fire, we were completely powerless to do anything. Because we were afraid that the car’s oil tank would blow up at any moment, we were unable to do much to save them “a witness reported to the media.

The causes of the fire could only be determined after being verified by technical experts.

“With the aid of professionals, the car will be thoroughly evaluated. We can acquire a clear image after conducting some additional research, “police reported.
