Tom Holland, a Twitter user, was misidentified as the Hollywood actor in a number of comments about the Marvel star’s trip to India for the NMACC gala.
On Saturday, when Indian fans shared images of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) gala and tagged author Tom Holland in them, it was a case of mistaken identification. In order to attend the NMACC grand opening weekend, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland and his girlfriend and co-star Zendaya flew into Mumbai on Friday. Although the author Tom is verified on Twitter, the actor Tom is not, and he became frustrated with Indian fans who believed he was the actor.
The source shared a fan account photo of Tom and Zendaya smiling with Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Nita Ambani and said, “Please make it stop.” I am wheezing as I type this, Mr. Holland, but please accept my humble apologies on behalf of my fellow countrymen. It looks like I have all of India in my timeline, the author retorted.
“Very confident you guys discussed Stonehenge and that SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) has insights on it, that you heard here first!” composer Vishal Dadlani added in a tweet. I feel for you, “Spidey”! Jhendya (Zendaya) is loved (laughing face emojis). Since the author has authored multiple award-winning books on Roman history, responses to Tom’s appeal to Indian fans were full with jokes and puns regarding the Spider-Man movies and that period of time.
The author then hilariously wrote, “Phew,” as he hoped the spotlight would soon fade away after another tweet revealed that Tom and Zendaya had left the nation on Monday.
The Marvel actor uses social media, but he has taken an indefinite Twitter hiatus. He posted a video in August of last year explaining why he had stopped using social media for his mental health: “I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overpowering. When I read things about me online, I get sucked in and spiral out of control. Finally, it has a negative impact on my mental health.
The actor has 7.2 million Twitter followers and 66.9 million Instagram followers. On Instagram, where he is more active, he posted his pictures from the NMACC event the next day.
