Credent Tv: Xavier Vocational Institute (XVI) in collaboration with ISREAC/Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell and Gender Study & Women Cell, SXCJ organized International Women’s Day #EmbraceEquity on 10th March 2023 in the college auditorium at 11:45 AM. The chief guest for the event was Ms. Alka Batra, Managing Director of Aegis Jobs Pvt.

Ltd. Bharti Singh Chauhan (President Awardee of 100 Women Achievers of India) and Dr. Ritu Mehra (Assitant Professor, Shri Bhawani Niketan Mahila PG Mahavidyalaya) were the guest of honor and special guest respectively. Nearly 300 village women from 14 villages (5 Gram Panchayats) participated in the event. The event saw cultural performances from village women and XVI students, games were also organized in the North Quadrangle for engaging the villagers.

The celebrations kicked off with the welcome address of Rev Fr Dr. S Arokya Swamy SJ (Rector & Manager) who emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and how St. Xavier’s College Jaipur can be instrumental in being the agents of change in villages. Rev Fr Dr. Raymond Cherubin SJ (Vice-principal) lauded the efforts put in by the organizing team for producing such an event at a large scale.

Rev Fr Dr. S Arokya Swamy SJ reiterated the necessity to embrace equity and urged the gathering to participate wholeheartedly in the organized program. Dr. Ranjit Kaur highlighted the inequality still prevalent in society. Dr. Kaur ended her address optimistically, reinforcing her hope in the judiciary and humanity. Ms. Alka Batra – chief guest of the program – talked about her empowering journey. She also emphasized the importance of financial independence and knowing women’s rights. The special impetus was put on educating the girl child.

Many cultural performances were also displayed by village women and XVI students. A prayer dance was performed by village women, and a group dance was performed by the teachers of Govt. School Chattarpura Lalya Ka Bas. XVI students performed a ramp walk and also Rajasthani folk dance. GSWC premiered a short documentary on village women which was produced by the student body of the club. ISREAC/UBA Cell Teacher Coordinator – Dr. Ranjit Kaur, also addressed the gathering by putting over the importance of acknowledging women achievers across the world.
