Panghal did not fit the new criteria for selection.
In fact, a new selection procedure was used this time to choose the World Boxing Championship team. In this case, a group of experts evaluated the players over the course of a month-long training session instead of conducting a trial. The boxer who received the most points in this event was given a spot on the team for the World Boxing Championship at that weight. Amit received 682 points from the expert panel.
He came in second, behind Deepak Kumar, who received 731 points. He took the first position. Recent performances by Deepak have been better. In the Strandja Memorial competition, he defeated Uzbek Shakhobidin Zoirov, the gold medalist from the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio and the current world champion.
Shiv Thapa offers a lot of hope.
