Belinda Clark of Australia is the first female cricketer to have a statue erected in her honor; the trailblazing former captain’s bronze sculpture was unveiled outside Sydney Cricket Ground.

Belinda Jane Clark AO, an Australian former cricketer, and sports administrator, were born on September 10, 1970. She was a right-handed batter who captained the national women’s team for eleven years. She also participated in the winning World Cup campaigns of 1997 and 2005. For any Australian woman playing in One Day Internationals (ODIs), Clark has scored the most runs (4,844 at an average of 47.49) [1] and captained the most games (101 at an 83% winning rate [2]). She was also the first to reach a double century in an ODI. She has also had impressive domestic success, winning two titles with Victoria and five with New South Wales in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL).

Belinda Clark of Australia has become the first female cricketer to have a statue erected in her honor, with a bronze statue of the trailblazing former captain unveiled outside Sydney Cricket Ground. Clark played 15 tests and over 100 limited overs matches between 1991 and 2005, becoming the first woman to score a double-hundred in one-day internationals with an unbeaten 229 against Denmark in 1997.

The statue of the 52-year-old cricketer joins those of Richie Benaud, Fred Spofforth, Stan McCabe, and Steve Waugh as cricketers honored with sculptures in the SCG precinct. Her bronze statue now stands alongside those of former captains Richard Benaud and Steve Waugh. Clark, 52, who has held several positions on the Australian Cricket Board, was overjoyed with the honor. Clark played 15 Tests and over 100 limited-over matches between 1991 and 2005, scoring the first double-century in ODI cricket. His historic double century came against Denmark in 1997, when he batted unbeaten for 229 runs.
