For violating the IPL Code of Conduct, Hardik Pandya was fined Rs. 24 lakh; other Mumbai Indians players received same punishment

The Mumbai Indians, captained by Hardik Pandya, have been found guilty of the crime twice in IPL 2024

Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, will have to pay a fine of Rs 24 lakh after his team was deemed to have failed to finish their overs within the allotted time during their Tuesday night IPL 2024 matchup with the Lucknow Super Giants.

According to an IPL statement, MI has maintained a sluggish over-rate twice this season; consequently, the severity of the punishment.

According to the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate offenses, Pandya was fined INR 24 lakh because it was his team’s second offense of the season.

The Impact sub and other MI players have also been fined.

The statement said, “The remaining members of the playing XI, including the impact player, were each fined INR 6 lakh or 25% of their respective match fees, whichever was lower.”

The five-time winners MI suffered their seventh loss in ten games, continuing their dismal performance in the IPL 2024.

When MI batted first at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, they collapsed badly in the top order and were reduced to 27/4 in 5.2 overs. With a 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma brought the innings back to life.

But LSG held MI to 144/7, with Tim David striking a quick 25 off 18 and Nehal Wadhera topping the visitor’s total with 46 off 41.

After losing the toss to Arshin Kulkarni for a golden duck, LSG mounted a strong comeback headed by skipper KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis. With four deliveries remaining, LSG managed to chase down the mark thanks to a solid half-century from Stoinis (62 off 45), while Rahul managed just 28 before being removed.

LSG moved up to third place in the standings, behind leaders Rajasthan Royals and second-place Kolkata Knight Riders, with their sixth IPL 2024 victory.

With six points more than the bottom-dwelling Royal Challengers Bengaluru, MI is ranked ninth on the list.
