The meeting between the two indisputable heavyweights of the league, Chennai Super Kings (CSK ) and Mumbai Indians ( MI ) , is the most anticipated and dramatic encounter in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Chennai Super Kings on the other hand have lost their way a bit in the tournament in the last few games. Back-to-back defeats were followed by a shared point against Lucknow Super Giants due to rain. Similar to Mumbai Indians their bowling has let them down in the tournament. Tushar Deshpande despite being the leading wicket-taker for the side has gone at 11s this season. Mahesh Theekshna too has blown hot and cold. Mateesh Pathirana despite showing a lot of promise is yet to deliver a substantial performance.
