Prof. KB Sharma says habit gets converted into addiction. When we start consuming something or doing something on a daily basis, it becomes an addiction. It can be non-substantial as well. Apart from smoking cigarettes, alcohol, etc. addiction can be internet, gambling, and mobile phones as well. It becomes your psychological desire to do it and gets difficult to live without it. Be alert, spend time with family or loved ones, go on walks and spend more time with nature to help you overcome it.

What leads to addiction?

Meheck Mukherjee quotes Vivekanandji and says, “Anything that is in excess is poison. Addiction can be both positive and negative. Listening to music daily is a positive addiction. We do addiction when we want to get distracted from awareness. We know something and don’t want that consciousness to get alive because societal rules don’t match it. The root cause of addiction is the denial of choice.

The source of it comes right in your parenting. When you invalidate the emotions and don’t give choice to a child they revert to addiction and find comfort in other things. The simple fact is when you can’t express yourself you will distress yourself with addiction.

We want quick, convenient, and comfortable solutions, but with little effort. The way to overcome it is to change your negative perception, do meditation or workouts, and meet good people.
