Indian High Commission in U.K. probes illegal visa handlers
The Indian High Commission on Friday said it is investigating reports that British travelers visiting India are being charged illegal fees for visa processing by unauthorized agents.
Many British travelers have complained about the lack of timely visa processing and visa slot availability. The Indian High Commission has asked travelers to beware of fraudsters. The High Commission also said that it is working on streamlining all the procedures.
The Indian High Commission said that individual visa applicants are expected to apply in person at the outsourced VFS Global Centers of the Indian Mission in London.
“It has come to our notice that unauthorized agents are illegally charging fees and collecting Indian visa applications for submission at VFS centres,” a statement from the High Commission said.(Credenttv.com)
The statement further said that these unauthorized agents are misleading the applicants and misrepresenting the services that can be provided legally. It is being investigated by the Indian High Commission. The High Commission also emphasizes that ‘M/s VFS Global Services’ is the only authorized outsourcing service provider in the UK for India related passport/visa and consular services.
As per the established procedure, individual visa applicants are required to submit the visa application in person at the VFS centres, the High Commission said. There is no change in the visa application process for individual visa applicants.
