The Indian selectors have announced Team India for the tour of New Zealand and Bangladesh. It was believed that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah could return to Team India from both these series. However, this did not happen and he was not included in the team in both the series.

The Indian team will play T20 and ODI series on New Zealand tour, while ODI and Test series will be played on Bangladesh tour. Bumrah has been out of the team since September due to a back stress fracture. Now Chief Selector Chetan Sharma has given a statement regarding his fitness.

‘No rush for Bumrah’
Talking to the media after the announcement of the team, Chetan Sharma said that the team management wants to be patient in Bumrah’s case. They are in no hurry. He has suffered the consequences before the T20 World Cup. Chetan said – Bumrah will return soon. It is expected that soon he will be seen playing in India jersey. We were quick to include Jasprit Bumrah before the T20 World Cup and you see what happened. So we want to be patient now. NCA team is taking good care of him. Right now we are a little cautious about the inclusion of Bumrah. When we rest a player, there is a reason behind it.

Chetan Sharma’s statement about Karthik and Prithvi Shaw
Chetan also gave a statement on Dinesh Karthik not being included in Team India for the T20 series against New Zealand. He said – Keeping in mind the load management of Karthik, the place has not been given in the team. He is an excellent match finisher. At the same time, when Prithvi Shaw was not given a place in the team, Chetan said – The selection committee is constantly keeping an eye on Prithvi’s performance. He is playing well. He may be back in the team soon.

Statement on not including Hanuma Vihari and Sarfaraz
Hanuma Vihari has also not been included in Team India for the Test series against Bangladesh. To this he said – we have a middle order pack. There are many contenders for this position including Shreyas Iyer. In such a situation, a place could not be made for Hanuma Vihari in the team. It is not that Vihari is not talented. On the question of Sarfaraz Khan, who was not included in the team, who scored runs in domestic cricket, Chetan said – Sarfaraz’s performance is being monitored. Discussion has also taken place in the meeting regarding his name. We are in touch with them. Many times players are given space by looking at the team combination. The Test team has been selected keeping in mind the pitch conditions of Bangladesh. Sarfaraz can soon be seen playing for Team India.
