Pakistan defeated New Zealand by seven wickets: Zaman scored 180* and became the second-fastest player in ODI history to reach 3000 runs.

Fakhar Zaman’s unbeaten innings of 180 runs helped Pakistan defeat New Zealand by 7 wickets in the second One-Day International played in Rawalpindi. With this, Pakistan now leads the five-match ODI series 2-0. Pakistan responded with 337/3 in 48.2 overs after New Zealand had batted first and scored 336/5 in 50 overs.

In addition, Zaman reached 3000 runs in his ODI career during this game. Zaman passed the player with the fastest 3000 runs in the entire world. Zaman only needed 67 innings to complete 3000 runs.

By doing this, Zaman left Babar Azam and Virat Kohli in his wake. During his ODI career, Babar was able to score 3000 runs in 68 innings. While Kohli played 75 innings to reach 3000 runs in his ODI career. The record for the quickest 3000 ODI runs belongs to Hashim Amla. Amla accomplished this in 57 innings.

A poor beginning for New Zealand

After choosing to bat first after losing the toss and not having a good start, New Zealand. The first strike came with a 33-run score. After scoring 19 runs as the opener, Will Young was removed in the sixth over. Following that, New Zealand’s innings was handled by Chad Bowes and Darryl Mitchell. The two of them shared an 86-run partnership for the second wicket. Bowes was given the boot after 119 runs. In 51 balls, he scored 51 runs.
