Pakistan won the first ODI by 5 wickets, thanks to Fakhar Zaman’s century

the opening ODI, Pakistan defeated New Zealand by a margin of five wickets. In Rawalpindi, New Zealand scored 288 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs while batting first after losing the toss. In response, Pakistan reached the target with 5 wickets lost in 48.3 overs thanks to Fakhar Zaman’s century.

With this triumph, Pakistan now leads the five-match ODI series 1-0. Beginning on April 29, the second ODI will also be played in Rawalpindi. There was a 2-2 tie in the five-match T20 series between the two teams. Rain forced the abandonment of one game.

Mitchell’s century was Daryl

In the first innings, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell and Will Young combined for 113 runs and 86 runs, respectively. At one point, New Zealand’s score was over 300 runs, but Pakistani bowlers prevented the team from scoring heavily by taking wickets steadily over the course of the final 10 overs.

For 29 runs, Naseem took 2 wickets.

Chad Bowes scored 18, Captain Tom Latham scored 20, Mark Chapman scored 15, Henry Nicholls scored 2, and Rachin Ravindra scored 9 runs for the rest of the Kiwi batsmen. Adam Milne was not even able to access his account. 2-2 wickets were taken by Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf. In 10 overs, Naseem only allowed 29 runs. Taking a wicket was Shadab Khan.

Opening acts got things going quickly.

Pakistan had a strong start in chasing the 289-run target thanks to opener Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq. Together, they scored 124 runs in 21.2 overs. Imam was removed after 60 runs were scored. Zaman and the team’s captain, Babar Azam, then combined to push the total past 200.

Babar was removed after amassing 49 runs. Only one run could be scored by Shan Masood as well. In the 43rd over, Fakhar was also out after scoring 117 runs.

Rizwan declared success

Mohammad Rizwan joined forces with the other batsmen after Fakhar Zaman was dismissed in the 43rd over to help the team win with 9 balls remaining. With Mohammad Nawaz (8 runs) scoring 42 runs, Rizwan was still unbeaten. Salman was out after scoring seven runs. New Zealand’s two wickets were taken by Adam Milne. Ish Sodhi, Blair Tickner, and Rachin Ravindra each secured one wicket.
