India defeated Pakistan by 228 runs in the Asia Cup; Kuldeep took 5 wickets, and Kohli and Rahul struck centuries

India achieved its most significant victory over Pakistan. In the Super-4 match of the ODI Asia Cup, the squad trounced Pakistan by a record 228 runs

Earlier that year, at Mirpur, India defeated Pakistan by 140 runs.

India scored 356 runs for two wickets in 50 overs after winning the toss and batting first at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. In response, Pakistan could only muster 128 runs in 32 overs. Due to injuries, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf did not play.

In the Asia Cup, India defeated Pakistan for the first time in 1984. The squad then won the match by 54 runs on Sharjah’s ground.

Third: Virat Kohli and KL established the largest partnership in the Asia Cup thanks to Kohli-Rahul Rahul set the record for the largest Asia Cup partnership. Prior to that, in a 2012 match against India, Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed of Pakistan had an opening partnership of 224 runs.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, decided to field after winning the toss. On the Colombo pitch, Babar made the wrong choice. India’s first partnership was made up of 121 runs between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. They both received scores of fifty. After that, the team’s score reached 356 thanks to an unbroken 233-run partnership between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Rahul and Virat both recorded hundreds.

The Pakistani squad only lost three wickets for 47 runs while attempting to reach the lofty 357 run target. The openers and Captain Babar were unable to do any noteworthy feats. The remaining batsmen were all caught in Kuldeep Yadav’s net when he entered the game to bowl in the 18th over of the innings. Kuldeep claimed five wickets for just 25 runs. Pakistan lost the game by a record-breaking 228 runs after scoring only 128 runs.

100-year partnership between Shubman and Rohit

Team India chose to bat first after losing the toss, and the skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both reached fifty runs. Additionally, they combined for 121 runs. Gill and Rohit both lost after scoring 56 and 58 runs, respectively.

On 84 balls, Kohli scored a century.

Against Pakistan, Virat Kohli scored a century on 84 pitches. By taking a single off Shaheen Afridi’s ball, he scored the 47th century of his ODI career. He has scored 77 centuries in all three formats, including 29 centuries in Test cricket and one century in Twenty20.

Kohli reached the 13000 run milestone in his ODI career as soon as he scored the 98th run of the innings. He became the second Indian to reach 13,000 runs for his country. The only other player to surpass him in runs scored is Sachin Tendulkar. In ODI play, Sachin has amassed 18426 runs.

Rahul hit a century on the 100th pitch for KL. Rahul beat Pakistan by scoring a century. After two and a half years, he finally hit a century in an ODI. On March 26, 2021, Rahul last played a 108-run innings against England. Rahul also recorded his first century against Pakistan. He has also scored a century against England, New Zealand, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe, in addition to Pakistan.

Against Pakistan, Team India equaled the greatest score.

India and Pakistan tied for the highest total in an ODI. Earlier, at Visakhapatnam in 2005, Team India defeated Pakistan and scored 356/9.

India also scored the most against Pakistan in the Asia Cup with same score. India has previously amassed 330 runs at Mirpur Ground in 2012. In that game, Kohli played a fantastic inning, scoring 183 runs.

Virat Kohli scored the most undefeated 122 for India, followed by KL Rahul’s 111 not out, Shubman Gill’s 58, and captain Rohit Sharma’s 56 runs. While KL Rahul completed his sixth century, Kohli recorded his 47th ODI century.
