The bharat jodo yatra entered its Maharashtra leg from Telangana in Degloor on Monday night.

On November 8, 2022, the Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Congressman Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled to resume its 22-kilometer foot march from Gurudwara Yaadgari Baba Zoravar Singh ji, Fate Singh Ji in the Nanded district.

The yatra entered Maharashtra on Monday night from Telangana at Degloor.

On the eve of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Mr. Gandhi and a sizable group of supporters went nine kilometres to the Gurudwara Yaadgari Baba Zoravar Singh ji, Fate Singh Ji in Vanali after speaking to a sizable throng from the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the town centre.

Mr. Gandhi performed prayers for over an hour before returning to the encampment in Degloor, joined by a sizable group of members of the Sikh community, Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole, and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.

“Started the Yatra in Maharashtra with Ardas in Yaadgari Baba Zoravar Singh ji and Fate Singh Ji on the auspicious festival of Gurpurab. We will achieve this goal of unifying India by adhering to Guru Nanak’s teachings of love, peace, and fraternity. Gurpurab’s greetings to all of your compatriots, he remarked.

Sikhs make up a sizable portion of the population in Nanded.

Mr. Gandhi will attend a corner gathering at Bhopala Pata in Biloli on the second day of his 14-day walkathon in the State before stopping for the night at Shankar Nagar-Ramtirth at 7 o’clock.

The former AICC chairman would walk 381 kilometres through 15 Assembly and 6 parliamentary constituencies during his 14-day trip in the State. Mr. Gandhi will walk 106 miles in five days through the Ashok Chavan stronghold of Nanded district. Before entering Madhya Pradesh, there would be 91 km in the Hingoli district, 54 km in Washim district, 59 km in Akola district, and 71 km in Buldhana.

On Monday, Mr. Gandhi stated that he would spend more than six hours “listening” to farmers, daily wage earners, and people from all walks of life during his yatra before sharing his opinions for 15 to 20 minutes.
