This was Jadeja’s sixth Test match with five wickets and a fifty, putting him at the top of the list of Indian players with a similar milestone to their names, with Kapil Dev achieving the feat four times.

With a five-wicket haul on Day 1, Jadeja was the wrecker-in-chief for the hosts, and with the fifty, he surpassed India legend Kapil Dev to claim a massive record. This was Jadeja’s sixth Test match in which he took five wickets and scored a fifty, propelling him to the top of the list of Indian players.

Debutant KS Bharat joined Ravindra Jadeja at the crease, but he was out for eight by another debutant, Todd Murphy, as the hosts lost their seventh wicket for 240 runs. Murphy’s five-wicket haul was his first.Axar Patel then joined Jadeja at the crease, and the pair helped the team surpass the 250-run mark. Jadeja, making his comeback, also reached the half-century mark.

The combination of Jadeja and Patel helped India extend their lead beyond 100 runs, bringing their total to 277. The pair also passed the 50-run mark in their collaboration.India passed the 300-run mark, increasing the pressure on Australia. Axar went on to score a half-century, and India finished the day with 321 runs for seven wickets, a 144-run lead.

Earlier in the day, in the 32nd over of the innings, Rohit smacked Australia skipper Pat Cummins for a six on the final delivery, pushing India’s total past 100 runs.Scott Boland began to apply pressure from his end, conceding no runs in the 38th over of the innings.

Todd Murphy then dealt India a major blow by dismissing Ashwin for 23 runs off 62 deliveries. Cheteshwar Pujara, the right-handed batter, came out to bat and smashed Murphy for four runs.On Murphy’s delivery, Rohit began the 43rd over of the innings with a beautiful six through midwicket. Murphy maintained his excellent form by dismissing Pujara for seven runs in the 45th over of the game. India was 42 runs behind at this point.Virat Kohli stepped up to the crease to bat. With a three-wicket loss at lunch, Virat and Rohit took the team’s total to 151.

India’s score at the time of tea was 226/5 in 80 overs, with Rohit Sharma leading Team India from the front with a magnificent century and Ravindra Jadeja (34) unbeaten at the crease.

India got off to a bad start in the post-lunch session, with a score of 151/3. Todd Murphy smacked the deck hard and gave his team a huge breakthrough on the first ball after the lunch break, dismissing Virat Kohli for 12. Murphy took his fourth wicket as a debutant.

Suryakumar used a sweep shot against Murphy to send the ball to the backward square leg region for a four-point play. Lyon’s wicket brought Australia back into the game.
