Shelly Oberoi of the AAP won the election for mayor of Delhi without opposition, and the BJP withdrew Shikha Rai’s name before the vote.

The BJP withdrew the names of its candidates just before Wednesday’s election for the new mayor and deputy mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). As a result, Shelly Oberoi of the AAP was re-elected mayor.

Let us inform you that Shikha Rai, a candidate for the BJP, ran against Shelly Oberoi, the incumbent mayor of the AAP, in the race for the position of mayor. Aale Mohammad Iqbal, the departing AAP deputy mayor, was set to compete against Soni Pandey, a BJP candidate. However, Shelly was elected mayor without a challenge after the BJP candidate withdrew their name. The MCD house was completely controlled by the AAP.

By a margin of 34 votes, Shelly prevailed.

Following an altercation between BJP and AAP council members, Shelly Oberoi was chosen as the new mayor of Delhi on February 22. Rekha Gupta of the BJP was defeated by Oberoi by a margin of 34 votes. Out of 266 votes cast, Oberoi received 150 and Gupta 116. The Civic Centre, the MCD’s administrative hub, served as the location for this election.

After the fiscal year is over, the city elects a new mayor. Once more, Shelly Oberoi will be in charge of this position.

When council members began hurling bottles at one another The election process for Delhi’s mayor, deputy mayor and standing committee members was completed three months ago. There was a huge uproar in the headquarters as soon as the voting began in the MCD civic centre. Members of the AAP-BJP yelled slogans. Some councillors climbed the barricades and began throwing bottles at one another because the situation had gotten so bad.
