The Delhi University received the most applications for the CUET-UG, with nearly 14 lakh applicants overall

In terms of applicants, CUET-UG continues to be the second-most popular entrance exam in the nation.

New Delhi: According to UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar, nearly 14 lakh applications have been received for the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) this year, representing a 41% increase from the first edition last year.

In terms of applicants, CUET-UG is still the second most popular entrance exam in the nation.

“A total of 16.85 lakh students registered for the CUET-UG in 2023.” (themselves). There were 16.85 lakh applicants, but only 13.995 lakh paid the fee and submitted the form, an increase of 4 lakh students. (from last year). The total number of students taking the CUET-UG exam will rise by 41% in 2023, according to Mr. Kumar.

12.50 lakh students registered for the CUET-UG’s first edition, and 9.9 lakh of them submitted applications.

With an average of 18 lakh registrations, the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) for medical admissions is India’s biggest entrance exam.

Delhi University has received the most CUET applications, followed by Banaras Hindu University and Allahabad University.

The majority of applicants are from Uttar Pradesh, with Delhi and Bihar coming in second and third.

“The number of participating universities has also increased. It was 90 in 2022, but it increased to 242 in 2023. This significant increase suggests that CUET- is growing in popularity as a choice for undergraduate programme admissions, according to Mr. Kumar.

The number of applicants from Jammu and Kashmir has increased noticeably.

13,021 students from this region took the CUET in total in 2022. However, this number will increase to 82,655 in 2023, a 6.3-fold increase, he said.

“Students from 59 different nations applied to the CUET-UG last year. This number increased to 74 nations with 1,000 students in 2023, he said, spread across Europe, Asia, America, and the Gulf states.

The CUET-UG exam will be held from May 21–31, and the deadline for applications was March 30.
