A Tensor G2 chipset will likely power the Pixel Fold.

Later this year, Google is anticipated to release the Pixel Fold smartphone. The tech juggernaut with headquarters in Mountain View, California, will debut it as the first foldable phone. The eagerly awaited gadget has been in the news quite a bit lately as well. Its design and specifications, as well as leaks and conjecture about its price and release date, have all been the subject of reports and rumours. The Pixel Fold was anticipated to be introduced at Google’s annual I/O event, which was scheduled for May 10 this year. However, a recent report proposes a different release schedule.

The Google Pixel Fold device is expected to go on sale in June of this year, according to a CNBC report. The report makes reference to internal Google documents that the publication has seen. This report refutes the rumour that the Pixel Fold will be unveiled on May 10 at the Google I/O event, on the one hand. On the other hand, it confirms a previous rumour that the first Google foldable smartphone would be released in June.

The Pixel Fold, internally referred to as “Felix,” is said to have the “most durable hinge on a foldable” phone, according to the report. According to the report, it will cost around $1,700 (roughly Rs. 1,39,800) and compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 for $1,799 (roughly Rs. The CNBC report confirms what has already been reported, namely that Google’s Tensor G2 chip, which was also used in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones from a year ago, will power the Pixel Fold.

According to the report, which includes images of the device, Google intends to make the Pixel Fold water-resistant and pocket-sized with an outer display measuring 5.8 inches. The report also states that it will open like a book to reveal a small tablet-sized 7.6-inch screen, the same size as the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Compared to the Samsung foldable, it is said to weigh 10 ounces (283 grammes), but it also has a larger battery that Google claims will last 24 hours or up to 72 hours in low-power mode.

According to the CNBC report, Google plans to include a free Pixel Watch, the company’s latest smartwatch, with each Pixel Fold purchase. The company is also expected to extend a trade-in offer in which customers can trade in their Pixel, iPhone, or any Android phone for a discount on the Pixel Fold smartphone.

The Pixel Fold will measure 158.7mm x 139.7mm x 5.7mm (8.3mm including the rear camera bump) when unfolded, according to photos leaked by OnLeaks and HowToiSolve. According to reports, the device will be available in Silver and Black.

According to this report, the upcoming Pixel Fold will have a 5.79-inch cover display with a centre hole-punch selfie camera slot and an inner display measuring 7.69 inches with a single camera hole on the right. According to the leaked images, the three rear cameras are situated next to an LED flash module on the back panel in a raised rectangular module.

In the leaked photos, the SIM tray is visible at the bottom edge of the outer screen, and a USB-C Charging Port is visible at the bottom edge of the foldable screen. Notably, no 3.5 mm jack is visible in the leaked images. The photos show two speakers, one near the USB-C port on the lower edge of the outer display and one near the upper edge of the main screen. Mic ports can be found on both the top and bottom edges of the devices.
