Mr. Sundar Pichai hinted during a Wall Street Journal interview that the company might soon experience more layoffs, but he avoided addressing the subject directly.

We are attempting to do that in a variety of ways. As we stated on our most recent earnings call, we are literally examining every aspect of what we do in order to re-engineer our cost base in a durable way. We are undoubtedly concentrating on generating long-term savings. Although we are happy with the progress, there is still work to be done, he added.

Google announced in January that it would be laying off 12,000 employees. Although the layoffs had been rumoured for months, the news came as a surprise to some employees.

Cuts were made after careful consideration, according to Mr. Sundar Pichai. “We’ve made the decision to cut 12,000 roles from our workforce. To those affected employees in the US, we have already sent a separate email. Due to regional laws and customs, this process will take longer in other nations, Mr. Sundar Pichai said in a statement at the time.

In February, it was also revealed that the business had terminated about 450 employees in India’s various departments. However, it is unclear if the 12,000 job cuts announced by Alphabet Inc. are included in the layoffs.
