Bilal Lashari is the director and writer of the 2022 Pakistani Punjabi action drama movie The Legend of Maula Jatt. It is a remake of the cult favourite Pakistani movie Maula Jatt from 1979. produced under the production banner of Lashari Films and Encyclomedia by Ammara Hikmat and Dr. Asad Jamil Khan. The stories and characters in it are those of Nasir Adeeb. Fawad Khan plays the title role in the movie alongside Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malik, and Mahira Khan. In the movie, Maula Jatt, a local heroine, battles Noori Natt, the vicious gang’s boss.

Director Bilal Lashari announced the creation of a Maula Jatt remake in December 2013; a year earlier, he had finished a written draught. Hamza Ali Abbasi and Fawad Khan signed on as the principal actors in November 2016, and Asad Jamil Khan and Ammara Hikmat joined as producers. January 2017 marked the start of principal photography, which ended in June 2019. The movie was previously slated for several screenings in 2019 and 2020, however the COVID-19 pandemic and copyright concerns kept pushing back the release date. The movie has been referred to as Pakistan’s most expensive film to date. Sarmad Ghafoor is the composer of the movie’s musical score.

With an Eid ul-Fitr 2019 release date, the movie’s trailer debuted on December 21 to favourable reviews. However, the 1979 film’s producer filed a copyright complaint, which caused the distribution to be delayed. After a settlement was reached between the parties in February 2020, the movie was supposed to be released in Pakistan and China at the same time on Eid Al Fitr 2020, but the COVID-19 epidemic caused the release to be postponed indefinitely.

The movie’s release date was believed to be September 30, 2022 in July 2022. It was officially revealed that the movie will be released on October 13, 2022, following several delays.

On October 12, 2022, The Legend of Maula Jatt had its world debut at Cue Cinemas in Lahore. On October 13, 2022, Mandviwalla Entertainment distributed the film in theatres throughout Pakistan. The film’s director, acting, musical soundtrack, action scenes, and special effects received high accolades from critics. In just eight days, it outperformed the whole theatrical run of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, shattering multiple records at the box office and became the highest-grossing Pakistani movie of all time. It has now made over $5.2 million globally.

The Legend Of Maula jatt plot

The movie begins with Jeeva Natt and his clan attacking Sardar Jatt’s Haveli. Even though they are more numerous, they are defeated, and Sardar Jatt and his wife are slaughtered. Maula, the only survivor of the assault and the son of Sardar Jatt, is brought up by a woman by the name of Daani. One day, Mooda, the biological son of Daani, brings Maula to his coach’s wrestling class. Maula impresses Mooda’s coach, who offers to train him.

Maula develops into a great wrestler as an adult, but at night he experiences traumatic dreams about his background.

The son of Jeeva Natt, Maakha Natt, terrorises the village of Maula by raped the girl from his village multiple times in his haveli. Daaro Natt, the daughter of Jeeva Natt, declares that only Noori Natt, the oldest son of Jeeva Natt who is in prison due to his killing fixation, will become the master of the clan. Jeeva Natt, who is elderly, determines that he will name someone else as the leader of his clan.
