Tripura elections are the BJP-IPFT combine, CPI(M)-Congress alliance

Tripura Elections 2023 : As voting for Tripura’s Assembly elections began today, Chief Minister Manik Saha asked voters to turn out in large numbers and use their right to vote. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the BJP will win a second consecutive term in the Northeast state.

All preparations for the 60-member Tripura Assembly elections have been finished, according to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gitte Kirankumar Dinakarro.

Mr Dinakarro told PTI that voting will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 3,337 polling sites, 1,100 of which have been designated as sensitive and 28 as essential.

The primary contenders in the elections are the BJP-IPFT coalition, the CPI(M)-Congress alliance, and the Tipra Motha, a regional party founded by the heir of the erstwhile royal family of the northeastern state.

Security personnel help octonegenarian lady to cast vote

The polling for the Tripura Assembly elections started at 8am amid tight security. In Belonia area, an octogenarian lady went to the polling station to cast her vote and was helped by the Central Armed Police Forces personnel (CAPF) there to enter the polling booth in South Belonia.

Tripura was dominated by the CPM for more than 30 years until the BJP made history by capturing 36 of the 60 seats in a state where it had virtually no foothold.
