Mumbai Indians won the inaugural Women’s Premier League as champions (WPL). Mumbai Indians won the prized trophy at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur referred to it as “a dream.”

“We had been looking forward to this for so long, and it has been wonderful. This was loved by all in the changing room. For everyone present, it seems like a dream “At the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet said.”So many people had been wondering when WPL 2023 will arrive, and now it has, and we are very glad and proud of it.”To win the summit match by seven wickets, MI initially held Delhi Capitals to 131 for nine before surpassing the goal with three balls remaining.

MI needed 132 to win and were 23 for 2 in the fourth over when Nat Sciver-Brunt hit a 55-ball 60 to get them there.
“We had to go there and express, in my opinion, since we had a deep hitting lineup. Extremely pleased with everyone’s performance. Keeping a positive attitude is crucial, and we were fortunate to have full tosses go in our favour “said the MI skipper.

I’ve been waiting for this moment for a very long time, and now I finally understand what it’s like to win. We frequently emphasise the importance of being optimistic, and our well-executed plans are the reason I am here today. After putting up a subpar performance at the plate, DC captain Meg Lanning acknowledged that her team didn’t have enough points on the board.

It was “extremely amazing” to be able to bring the squad home, according to Nat Sciver-Brunt, who received Player of the WPL Match honours.
Happy I was able to persevere when pressure was applied. Harman and Melie relieved the pressure I was under as I was attempting to become pretty harsh. I was confident we would succeed if I persisted to the finish. We conceded too many runs in the last three to four overs, but it kept the game exciting. The Mumbai Indians and a particular group of females joining together to win the WPL trophy is an incredibly memorable moment.

Hayley Matthews, another MI player who was honoured as the game’s most valuable player after hitting 271 runs and grabbing 16 wickets, expressed her happiness at being able to help the team with both the bat and the ball.
“I’m always trying to become better, and the weather is good for my off-spin. It’s important to reclaim the trophy, but winning with the Mumbai Indians makes me happier.”
