Credent TV | A customs officer of Jaipur Airport stated on Saturday that a man who was travelling on Air Arabia aircraft number G9435 from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was detained at the airport and had smuggled gold worth more than Rs 1.12 crore recovered from his possession. According to the official, during an X-ray scan of his two checked bags, a black, thick, metallic picture of round wires was discovered. When questioned, the traveller denied possessing any such item.
The illegal gold, which was 2170.3 grammes in weight and had a purity of 99.5, was confiscated in accordance with the rules of the 1962 Customs Act after four circular gold wires with white rhodium polish were discovered hidden under the iron casing of both bags, the official added.
