In the men’s F46 javelin event, Sundar Singh Gurjar smashes the world record with a gold throw

Sundar Singh Gurjar broke a world record and Sumit Antil successfully defended his gold medal in the javelin throw competitions at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, in a magnificent display of talent and domination.

Sundar Singh Gurjar of India achieved an excellent performance in the men’s javelin throw-F46 final, breaking the world record with a throw of 68.60 metres. This astounding feat not only earned him the gold medal, but it also broke the previous world record of 67.79 metres held by Sri Lankan Dinesh Priyantha. Sundar’s throw also established new Asian and Games records.

India Takes the Top Spot

India’s supremacy in the men’s javelin throw-F46 event was reinforced with a podium sweep. While not breaking the world record, Rinku and Ajeet Singh demonstrated their excellence by throwing distances of 67.08 metres and 63.52 metres, respectively, gaining silver and bronze medals.

Sumit Antil’s Outstanding Defence

Reigning Sumit Antil, the Olympic and world champion in the men’s javelin F64 category, successfully defended his gold title. He comfortably broke the Games Record with his first throw, a distance of 66.22 metres, breaking his previous record set in 2018. His second throw was 70.48 metres, which was near to his world record of 70.83 metres.

Breaking the World Record of Antil

Sumit Antil’s incredible performance culminated in his third attempt, when he blasted a mammoth throw of 73.29 metres, breaking his own world record achieved earlier this year at the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris. This achievement not only confirmed his gold medal status, but also set a new world record.
