SPIC MACAY (Rukmani Birla Modern High School)

September 1, 2016, Rukmani Birla Modern High School witnessed a performance of Oddissi dance form by Ms Sharon Lowen, a leading international performing artist of classical Indian dance: Oddissi, Chhau and Manipuri. The program was organised by Spic Macay, a society working for the promotion of Indian classical music and culture amongst youth.

Ms Lowen is a renowned Oddissi dancer trained since 1975 by Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra. She has performed and choreographed for films, television and presented hundreds of concerts throughout India, North America, Asia, Africa, the United Kingdom and the Middle East. She has dedicated her life in presenting and promoting excellence in Indian performing arts.

The programme commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony. The charming dance performance by Ms Sharon Lowen mesmerised the audience.The programme ended with he presentation of Souvenirs and mementos by the Principal, Mrs Anjana Kumar and vote of thanks by Cultural Prefects of the school.
