West Indies Beat South Africa by 7 runs, captured the T20 series 2-1

Tuesday night saw the conclusion of the three-match T20 series between South Africa and the West Indies in Johannesburg. The third and final game saw West Indies defeat South Africa by a score of 7 runs. Along with this, the group also won the trophy with a 2-1 advantage. South Africa scored 220 runs while batting first, but only 213 runs in their allotted 20 overs in response.

The award for the game’s best player went to Alzarri Joseph. He claimed five wickets. Johnson Charles, a member of the team, was chosen at the same time as the Player of the Series.

Pooran and Romario’s aggressive innings

The toss was won by South Africa, who elected to field first. West Indies opened the batting. Opener Kyle Mayers was expelled for 17, and Brandon King was dismissed for 36. However, both players were able to give their teams strong starts during the powerplay. Johnson Charles was out after the very first pitch. Rabada forced him to move.

Nicholas Puran, a former team captain, then took the field. In just 19 balls, he scored 41 runs to lead the inning. Ramon Reifer, 27, Jason Holder, 11, and Captain Rovman Powell were all ejected for 13 runs. Romario Shepherd eventually batted brilliantly and played an inning of 44 runs in 22 balls. In 20 overs, the team scored 220 runs while taking 8 wickets.

South Africa’s bowling was outstanding. Nortya and Lungi Engidi Kagiso Rabada each claimed two wickets. Aiden Markram also secured one wicket.

Reeza Henriques’ half century did not work

Quinton de Kock and Reeza Henriques of the South Africa team got the team off to a strong start as they chased down the 220 run target. De Kock was out after 21 runs were scored. Henriques and Riley Russo then took control of the innings. Henriques played 83 no-hit innings in his 50-year career. Russo scored 42 runs off 21 balls at the same time. The team, however, did not benefit from this inning. South Africa could only muster 213 runs in 20 overs and lost the game despite Miller’s 11 and captain Markram’s 35 unbeaten.

West Indies won the series 2–1

In the three-match series, West Indies prevailed 2-1 over South Africa. The first and third games were won by West Indies. This was the new captain Rovman Powell’s first competition. Only a month ago, he received the T20 captaincy.
