Money will have to be paid for the third dose of Covid vaccine

People above 18 years of age will be given the third dose of covid vaccine from April 10. The Ministry of Health has named it the Precaution Dose. It will be levied free of cost to health workers and people above 60 years of age, while the rest of the adults will have to pay. It will be installed at private vaccination centers. This dose will be administered only to those people who are above 18 years of age and who got the second dose nine months or earlier.
Coveshield will cost Rs 600
Adar Poonawalla, CEO, Serum Institute of India, said that the cost of the preparation dose of Covishield would be Rs 600. Tax will also be levied on it, after which its price will be different. Poonawalla said that when Kovavax is recognized as a booster dose, it will cost Rs 900. Tax will also be applicable on this.
Statistics of Covid Vaccine in India
According to the Ministry of Health, about 96% of the people above the age of 15 in the country have had a single dose of Covid-19. While 83% people have been given both the doses. More than 2.4 crore booster doses have been administered to health workers, frontline workers and 60+ age groups. 45% of people in the age group of 12 to 14 years have also taken the first dose.
Why Precaution Dose is needed in India
Precaution dose is the third dose of corona vaccine. The need for this dose was felt after the arrival of a new variant of Covid-19 across the world. On January 10 this year, India started giving booster doses to frontline workers and people above 60 years of age suffering from serious diseases.
