Dr. BR Ambedkar Birth Anniversary

Ambedkar Jayanti  is an annual festival observed on 14 April to the memory of B. R. Ambedkar.It marks Ambedkar’s birthday in 1891 and is a public holiday throughout India. Dr Ambedkar died on December 6, 1956.It has been declared as public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, on 19th March 2015, It is customary for senior national figures, such as the President, Prime Minister and leaders of major political parties, to pay tribute at the statue of Ambedkar at the Parliament of India in New Delhi. It is celebrated throughout the world especially by Dalits . In India, large numbers of people visit local statues commemorating Ambedkar in procession with lot of fanfare. Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated not only in India but abroad also such as in United Kingdom, United States etc
