Drugs worth Rs 120 crore seized from Mumbai, Jamnagar; six including former AI pilot held

Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has again got a big success. The Bureau has seized 60 kg of narcotic drug Mephedrone worth Rs 120 crore from a godown in Jamnagar and Mumbai in Gujarat. Six people, including a former pilot of Air India, have been arrested in the case.

NCB Deputy Director General SK Singh gave this information on Friday. Singh said that this MD drug was seized from a warehouse in Mumbai and Jamnagar. The warehouse was raided on the information of the informer. NCB busted this drug smuggling gang and arrested 6 people including the kingpin.

DDG Singh of NCB said that initially the Naval Intelligence Unit of Jamnagar had informed about the sale and purchase of MD drugs. NCB and Naval Intelligence Unit acted jointly on this information. On this information 10.350 kg MD drugs were seized from Jamnagar.

Accused Sohail Ghaffar was a pilot in Air India

DDG Singh said that one of the two accused arrested in Jamnagar, identified as Sohail Ghaffar, was an Air India pilot between 2016 and 18. Preliminary investigation has revealed that there are links to the seized narcotics case in Jamnagar and Mumbai. He said that the total weight of the seized MD drug is 60 kg. Its price in the international market is around Rs 120 crore.

He said that the NCB Headquarters Delhi and Mumbai Zonal Office had raided Jamnagar on 3rd October. Three people each have been arrested from Jamnagar from Mumbai. 50 kg MD drug was seized from the warehouse of SB Road Fort area of ​​South Mumbai.

Drugs worth 1400 crores were caught in Palghar in August

Earlier in August, Mumbai Police had seized MD drugs worth Rs 1,400 crore from neighboring Palghar district. Five accused were arrested in the case. The weight of the seized drug was more than 700 kg. This action was taken by Anti Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Police.

Meow meow drug is also called MD drug

Mephedrone is also known as ‘meow meow’ or MD drugs. It is a synthetic powder that is a stimulant. It is considered a prohibited narcotic substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
