The Union Cabinet has also taken a big decision. The cabinet has decided to extend the PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana by 6 months. This decision of the Center has once again given relief to more than 80 crore people of the country. PM Modi gave this information on social media. He wrote on Twitter, ‘The power of India lies in the power of every citizen of the country.
Now to make this power stronger, the government has decided to extend the term of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana by 6 months. Now the needy of the country will continue to get free ration till September 2022.
What is PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana
PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was started in March 2020 in the lockdown in the country due to Corona epidemic. Initially this scheme was from April to June 2020. It was then extended and implemented till November 2021. In this way this scheme is continuously growing. Under the Garib Kalyan Yojana, 80 crore people are given 5 kg of wheat or rice along with one kg of gram every month. People get this grain through ration shops.
Who gets benefits from PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana ?
Under this scheme, the government gives free ration to the people identified under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). NFSA has placed 80 crore ration card holders in the list of those getting free ration. The free ration received under this scheme is over and above the subsidized food grains provided to the cardholders through ration shops.
Free ration scheme extended for 3 months in UP
Let us tell you that earlier in UP, Yogi Adityanath has extended the free ration scheme for 3 months on the second day of taking oath as CM. Earlier this scheme was till March 2022, but in the first meeting of Yogi cabinet, it has been approved to extend this scheme for 3 months.
