Sharad Purnima 2024: A Festival of Health, Prosperity, and Divine Blessings
Jaipur October 15, 2024 : Sharad Purnima, a festival that holds great religious and cultural significance in Hindu tradition, will be celebrated on October 16, 2024. This day marks a powerful confluence of divinity, health, and prosperity as it is believed that the full moon on Sharad Purnima showers nectar-like rays, blessing devotees with health and wealth.
According to the Hindu lunar calendar, Sharad Purnima falls on the full moon day of the Ashwin month. This festival is celebrated with fervor across India, as it is closely associated with Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Krishna. The day is also known for the tradition of preparing kheer (a sweet dish made of rice and milk) and offering it to the moonlight for divine blessings.
When is Sharad Purnima 2024? Date and Auspicious Timings
In 2024, Sharad Purnima will be celebrated on October 16, beginning from 8:40 PM and ending on October 17 at 4:55 PM. The most auspicious time to perform the puja and offer prayers to Goddess Lakshmi is during the night of October 16, when the moon will be at its fullest, radiating its healing energy.
This day is also seen as the end of Sharadiya Navratri, further enhancing its spiritual importance. Devotees look forward to performing rituals under the moonlight, believing that its rays have healing powers and bring positive energy into their lives.
The Significance of Sharad Purnima: Blessings from the Full Moon
Sharad Purnima is more than just a celebration of the full moon. It is considered a day when the moon is at its brightest and possesses all sixteen kalas (phases), making it spiritually and cosmically powerful. According to religious beliefs, the moon showers amrit (divine nectar) through its rays, which can cure illnesses and rejuvenate the body and soul.
Hindu mythology also associates this day with Lord Krishna’s Raasa Leela, where he danced with the gopis under the full moon, symbolizing the divine love between the human soul and the divine. It is believed that Lord Krishna enchanted the gopis with his flute and created a mystical bond of love on this auspicious night.
Sharad Purnima is also deeply connected to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. On this day, devotees offer prayers to her in hopes of receiving blessings for financial abundance, well-being, and familial harmony.
The Rituals of Sharad Purnima: Kheer Offering and Lakshmi Puja
One of the most popular rituals of Sharad Purnima is the preparation of kheer, a dish made from rice, cow’s milk, sugar, and cardamom. This kheer is left outside under the moonlight all night, allowing the moon’s rays to bless the dish with their nectar-like energy. It is believed that consuming this moonlight-soaked kheer the next morning will provide health benefits and is considered extremely auspicious.
Apart from the kheer ritual, special Lakshmi Puja is performed on this day. Devotees wake up early, cleanse their homes, and prepare the puja altar with yellow or red cloth, placing idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. Offerings of white and yellow sweets, flowers, and lamps are made to seek the blessings of eight forms of Lakshmi: Dhan Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Raj Lakshmi, Vaibhav Lakshmi, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Santan Lakshmi, Kamala Lakshmi, and Vijay Lakshmi.
It is believed that worshiping Lakshmi on Sharad Purnima brings prosperity, success, and wealth, and strengthens one’s financial and familial bonds.
Health and Prosperity: Why Sharad Purnima is Known as the Festival of Well-being
The cosmic significance of Sharad Purnima extends beyond spiritual beliefs. In Hindu tradition, this day is also known as the festival of health. It is believed that the moon’s rays on Sharad Purnima carry healing properties that can help cure certain ailments. The kheer, which is infused with these rays, becomes a form of amrit (nectar), enhancing its nutritional and healing value.
For this reason, many people follow the tradition of sitting under the moonlight on Sharad Purnima, absorbing the moon’s cooling and rejuvenating rays. Devotees pray for good health and consume the moon-blessed kheer to benefit from its curative powers.
Sharad Purnima 2024 – A Night of Divine Light and Blessings
Sharad Purnima 2024 will once again bring together thousands of devotees who will celebrate this magical night under the full moon’s radiance. As people across India prepare for the festival, the significance of this day is heightened by its promises of divine blessings, health, and prosperity. Whether through Lakshmi Puja, moonlight rituals, or the special kheer offering, Sharad Purnima continues to hold an important place in the hearts of Hindus, symbolizing the eternal connection between humanity, the cosmos, and the divine.

1 Rare Powerful Tradition: Jodidara Marriage in Himachal—A Stunning Cultural Revival

Contents
HP, July28,2025: The Jodidara marriage tradition traces back to tribal mythology and stories from……
Jodidara marriage tradition Explained
Jodidara marriage tradition is a rare, centuries‑old tribal custom in Himachal Pradesh where one woman marries two brothers, emphasising unity, land protection, and cultural pride. This powerful tale has ignited fresh national attention recently.
Historic Roots of Jodidara
The Jodidara marriage tradition traces back to tribal mythology and stories from the Mahabharata, most notably Draupadi’s marriage to the Pandavas, leading locals to call it “Draupadi pratha” or Ujala Paksha
. It evolved among the Hatti community of the Trans‑Giri region as a practical solution to preserve family land and joint inheritance.
The Recent Ceremony in Shillai Village
Consent and Cultural Pride
From 12–14 July 2025, Sunita Chauhan of Kunhat village willingly entered a Jodidara marriage tradition, marrying brothers Pradeep and Kapil Negi in a public, three‑day ceremony in Shillai, Sirmaur district. All three participants confirmed the union was mutually agreed upon and rooted in cultural pride.
Rituals, Music & Community Support
The wedding featured traditional rituals including “Seenj” ceremonies, folk music, dance, and community feasting. The event drew hundreds of villagers and relatives who celebrated openly, highlighting collective identity and shared joy.
Purpose Behind the Tradition
Preventing Land Fragmentation
In steep, resource‑scarce regions, Jodidara ensures family land remains undivided across generations. Kundan Singh Shastri, general secretary of Kendriya Hatti Samiti, explained the tradition prevents agricultural parcels from fragmenting over time
Ensuring Family Unity and Stability
Beyond economics, the tradition fosters stronger bond among siblings. The shared responsibilities create stability, and a larger united family is seen as more secure in tribal societies.
Legal & Social Recognition Today
Though polyandry is typically illegal in India, Himachal Pradesh allows it under customary law—referred to locally as Jodidar law—especially for tribal groups like the Hattis, who earned Scheduled Tribe status around 2022–2023. The state revenue records officially acknowledge Jodidara marriage tradition, granting it legal legitimacy in specific communities.
Contemporary Debates and Diverse Reactions
Despite consent and pride, the practice has sparked national debate. Supporters regard it as personal choice and cultural preservation; critics, including women’s rights advocates, argue it raises questions about exploitation and gender equity. Some believe transformations in socio‑legal norms may challenge its future relevance.
What the Future Holds for Jodidara
As education rises and lifestyles change, Jodidara marriage tradition has become rare. Only a handful of such marriages occur annually within the Hatti community. Yet this recent public and consensual ceremony might inspire a new wave of cultural pride and documentation, even as many hope such customs gradually fade or transform with evolving values..

Hosted by DAV Centenary Public School, Vaishali Nagar, Jaipur, this year’s edition celebrated the artistic abilities of students from Grades 3 to 5. With over a hundred participants, the event truly lived up to its name — a kaleidoscope of talent.
In today’s educational landscape, events like these go far beyond just extracurricular activities. They empower students to step beyond the classroom, embrace their individuality, and learn the value of expression.
DAVCPS Jaipur Talent Hunt 2025: Focus on Holistic Growth
The core philosophy behind the DAVCPS Jaipur Talent Hunt 2025 is nurturing holistic development. By offering children an opportunity to perform on stage, the school encourages creativity, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and self-confidence.
The school administration shared that the goal is not just to find the most talented student, but to help each child discover and polish their own unique spark.
Dance Performances That Left the Audience Spellbound
The stage turned magical as children performed a variety of dance forms — from classical Kathak to energetic Bollywood numbers. Their grace, rhythm, and confidence caught the attention of every parent and teacher present.
The audience was left amazed by a Grade 4 student’s solo semi-classical routine, which combined traditional steps with powerful expressions. Another group from Grade 5 performed a fusion number on folk and contemporary beats that earned a standing ovation.
Soulful Singing that Captivated Every Heart
Singers showcased their range through devotional bhajans, patriotic songs, and even trending Hindi pop songs. Some students even accompanied their singing with harmonium or tabla, adding authenticity to their performances.
One of the highlights of the DAVCPS Jaipur Talent Hunt 2025 was a duet performance by two Grade 3 students who sang a Rajasthani folk song with perfect pitch and synchronization, earning praise from judges and guests alike.
Dramatic Expressions that Brought Stories Alive

A skit themed on saving water gained special attention for its strong message and comedic timing. Another monologue based on freedom fighters’ sacrifices brought tears to many eyes in the audience.
These dramatic performances reflected the school’s focus on instilling values and awareness among students.
Art & Drawing: A Splash of Colourful Creativity
Not all talent needs a stage — some are best expressed on canvas. The drawing and painting section was a riot of colours and themes. From scenic landscapes to social messages on environmental conservation, students poured their imagination into every stroke.
A painting titled My Dream School by a Grade 5 student, depicting an eco-friendly, tech-enabled classroom in the mountains, won the ‘Best Imagination’ award.
Another notable entry was a Grade 3 student’s depiction of Jaipur’s famous Hawa Mahal using only crayons and watercolours.

Sattva, Rajas, Tamas” Come Alive on Canvas – Dr. Renu Shahi’s Indian Philosophical Art Shines in Sri Lanka

Colombo/Jaipur, July 14,2025
In a vibrant celebration of artistic expression and cultural wisdom, Indian artist Dr. Renu Shahi has drawn deep admiration for her spiritually inspired paintings at an international art exhibition titled “Uncharted”, held at the Curado Art Space in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Organized by the Rainbow Art Group, New Delhi, this cross-border exhibition featured 49 contemporary artists from six countries, each offering their unique visual interpretations. Amid this diversity, Dr. Shahi’s works stood out — not only for their aesthetic depth but also for their philosophical grounding.
Her three paintings, inspired by verses from the Bhagavad Gita, revolved around the three fundamental qualities of human nature: Sattva (purity), Rajas (passion), and Tamas (inertia). Through rich symbolic imagery and subtle layering, she represented these gunas not merely as abstract ideas, but as divine forces shaping the human experience. Each artwork intertwined color, mythology, and introspection into a single visual meditation.
The exhibition, which ran from July 4th to 10th, was inaugurated by Shanila Alles, Director of Curado Art Space, and curated by Virendra Kumar, the visionary founder of Rainbow Art Group. The group’s mission is to highlight artists who explore Indian culture, spirituality, and heritage through their canvas, offering them a global stage to be seen and heard.
“For us, art is a language that speaks beyond words,” said Kumar. “It transcends geography and unites minds — whether you’re from Jaipur or Jakarta.”

Alongside Dr. Shahi, notable artists such as Banita Rani Singh, Bhaskar Ghosh, Dr. Chetna Agarwal, Manju Saad, Manoj Chakravarty, and Nayana Mevada, among others, showcased their works. Artists hailed not just from India but also from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Indonesia, and Belarus. Each piece was a window into the artist’s soul — and some of those windows were so captivating that a few artworks were sold, a testament to the audience’s deep connection with the themes.
Rainbow Art Group has, over the years, emerged as a powerful platform nurturing both emerging and established talent. Its exhibitions reflect a belief that “art needs no passport — it is the purest dialogue between cultures.”
Dr. Renu Shahi’s series served not just as paintings, but as philosophical experiences — introducing Sri Lankan viewers to the timeless teachings of Indian scriptures, not through sermons, but through strokes of color, layers of thought, and a visual silence that speaks louder than words.
