Miss USA

Miss USA Venezuelan American Noelia Voigt, 24, is a Mexican-Indian American Miss Teen USA contestant. The 17-year-old UmaSofia Srivastava quit in a matter of days.

The parent organization of the pageants has come under intense scrutiny when the current Miss USA and Miss Teen USA resigned in a matter of days, citing differences in values and mental health as their reasons.

The two resigned shortly after a worker at the Miss USA organization, founded in 1952 and briefly owned by Donald Trump, withdrew, citing “workplace toxicity” and alleging mistreatment of the two titleholders.

Social media director for Miss USA Claudia Michelle quit on May 3rd, citing in an Instagram post that she had been working for two months without being paid, that she was not provided with adequate staff, and that she felt the management was showing contempt towards the winners.

Noelia Voigt, a 24-year-old Venezuelan American who was named Miss USA in September, and Michelle said that they had worked closely together and that Voigt had mentioned “a decline in her mental health” when she quit on Monday.

UmaSofia Srivastava, the 17-year-old Miss Teen USA, was mentioned by Michelle, who stated that she had “firsthand seen the disrespect toward Uma and her family.”

Michelle responded, “I disavow workplace toxicity and bullying of any kind,” criticizing the “unprofessional and inappropriate” way she believed management had spoken to Srivastava and Voigt.

Representative for Utah’s west, Voigt announced her resignation on Instagram, writing, “Never compromise your physical and mental well-being.” Our riches is our health.”

Her tenure as Miss USA, she said, was “incredibly meaningful,” underlining her charitable endeavors and her status as the first American Venezuelan to win the crown.

But she additionally stated that she wanted to “inspire others to remain steadfast, prioritize your mental health, advocate for yourself and others by using your voice, and never be afraid of what the future holds.”

Experts on the internet have even deduced that Voigt’s speech contains a coded message, as the initial letters of every line together form the phrase “I AM SILENCED.”

Self-described as a “first generation, Mexican-Indian American” from New Jersey, Srivastava announced on Wednesday that she was stepping down from her position because her “personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organization.”

“We respect and support Noelia’s decision to step down from her duties,” the Miss USA organization responded. Our titleholders’ welfare is our first priority.

Regarding Srivastava, Miss Teen USA released a statement with identical wording.

Miss USA Controversy :

According to media sources, there have been several scandals and controversies surrounding the Miss USA pageant in recent years, including claims that some contestants received special treatment.

Although Crystle Stewart, the previous Miss USA winner, resigned as president of the organization, it was later discovered that the charges were unfounded.

After serving as the vice president of the organization, her husband Max Sebrechts departed under a flurry of accusations of sexual harassment from previous participants.

With Voigt’s resignation, the Miss USA titleholder has not given up the position since the competition’s beginning for any reason other than winning the Miss Universe contest.

The 2019 Miss USA winner Cheslie Kryst took her own life in the early months of 2022.

She spoke of “long-standing insecurities” in her memoir, which was released posthumously last month and featured in an extract by People magazine. These issues resurfaced after she won the title and started receiving hate mail online.
