Together with HP, Google will produce Chromebooks in India

With the intention of providing Indian students with affordable computing options and promoting the “Make in India” movement, HP and Google have teamed up to create Chromebooks in India
In an important milestone, HP has announced a collaboration with Google to manufacture Chromebooks in India, with manufacturing expected to begin on October 2. This collaboration intends to make low-cost computing devices available to Indian students while also supporting the government’s “Make in India” drive.
The Chromebook devices will be built in HP’s Flex Facility near Chennai, where laptops and desktops have been produced since August 2020.
Taking Advantage of Local Chromebooks in the Educational Sector The production of Chromebooks by Google is becoming more and more popular in the global education market, as well as in India. It’s anticipated that local production of these Chromebooks, which cost between Rs 20,000 and 30,000, will help HP land orders from public schools. HP also plans to release its 11-inch Chromebooks to compete with the 9-inch tablet market.
Affordable Computing for Indian Education: HP and Google’s Vision
By giving educational authorities, schools, and institutions access to low-cost, high-quality computing devices, HP and Google hope to strengthen India’s digital education ecosystem and give students there easy access to PCs.
Chromebooks’ Place in Education
Chromebooks, which use Google’s ChromeOS operating system, have significantly changed education in India and throughout the world. In K–12 education, Chromebooks are the most popular tools, benefiting more than 50 million students and instructors worldwide, claims the statement. These gadgets are well-known for being inexpensive and having an easy-to-use interface, which makes them perfect for educational institutions.

HP’s India-Made PC Portfolio Expansion
Since 2020, HP has been progressively growing its manufacturing activities in India. The business started producing a variety of laptops locally in December 2021, including HP EliteBooks, HP ProBooks, and HP G8 series notebooks. Additionally, HP added many versions of desktop mini towers (MT), mini desktops (DM), small form factor (SFF) desktops, and a variety of All-in-One PCs to its lineup of locally built business desktops.

Google said earlier this month that Chromebook platforms would receive consistent, automated upgrades for ten years, far longer than any other operating system now in use.
