On September 30th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a week-long project dubbed ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ aimed at strengthening governance at the grassroots level within Aspirational Blocks

On September 30, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off a week-long initiative called ‘Sankalp Saptaah’. This bold plan is inextricably linked to the successful implementation of the Prime Minister’s Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP), a statewide programme introduced earlier this year. The primary purpose of this effort is to improve government at the block level, hence increasing inhabitants’ quality of life.

ABP stands for Aspirational Blocks Programme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) on January 7, 2023. It represents a comprehensive strategy to bringing about positive change and development at the grassroots level. The 500 Aspirational Blocks spread throughout 329 districts in India are the focus of the ABP. By improving public service delivery and governance in these sectors, its main goal is to raise citizens’ living standards.

The Foundation of Chintan Shivirs

Chintan shivirs were organised at both the village and block levels across the country to efficiently implement the Aspirational Blocks Programme. These shivirs were critical in developing comprehensive block development strategies and gaining vital input from local stakeholders. The ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ initiative is the result of these brainstorming sessions’ ideas and techniques.

‘Sankalp Saptaah’ Themes

‘Sankalp Saptaah’ is set to be a watershed point in the Aspirational Blocks Programme’s path. From October 3 to October 9, 2023, it will be observed across all 500 Aspirational Blocks. A distinct development theme will be the emphasis of each day of this week-long event, encouraging concentrated efforts on important areas for improvement. The following are the topics for the first six days:

Swachhta (Cleanliness): A focused campaign to encourage cleanliness and good hygiene habits in these blocks, fostering a healthier environment.

Krishi (Agriculture): Emphasising agricultural development to improve rural communities’ standard of living.

Shiksha (Education): Improving access to high-quality education and educational opportunities.

celebrating successes

Sankalp Saptaah’s grand finale, “Sankalp Saptaah – Samavesh Samaroh,” will take place on October 9, 2023. The effort, commitment, and advancement made over the course of the whole week will be honoured and recognised during this celebration. It will act as a display for the beneficial effects of the Aspirational Blocks Programme and “Sankalp Saptaah” on citizens’ lives.

Participation and Inclusion

The inaugural event, which will take place on September 30, 2023, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, will be historic. It will be attended by around 3,000 panchayat and block level people’s delegates and bureaucrats from across the country. In addition, to guarantee broad participation, about two lakh people, including block and panchayat level functionaries, farmers, and people from all walks of life, would participate online in the activity.
