The ‘Hey Siri’ command would enable users to launch Truecaller.

Live caller ID is a brand-new service that Truecaller today made available to iPhone users in India. As its name suggests, this feature displays the caller’s identity to the user on the screen. There are about 38 million users of the Stockholm-based company. When an unknown caller calls an Android phone user, Truecaller immediately identifies the caller on the calling screen. The iPhone operates in a unique way.

Users of iOS devices must activate Siri in order for it to recognise the caller ID when they receive a call from an unauthorised number. Siri will show the user’s live caller ID when they say, “Hey Siri, Search Truecallar.”

iPhone users will need to purchase a premium subscription in order to use the Live Caller ID feature, which is a premium feature on the Truecaller app. TrueCaller offers the Premium and Gold Premium subscription tiers in India. While a Gold plan costs Rs. 5,000 per year, an individual member’s premium subscription costs Rs. 529 per year or Rs. 179 for three months.

One of the most used apps by smartphone users has emerged. However, the business has previously come under fire for the way it collects data for its caller ID service.

An article published by the Indian magazine The Caravan last year claimed that Trucaller data was “composed of details which have been collected without consent.” The Swedish company, on the other hand, denied the accusations, asserting that the study was flawed and founded on false information.

Nakul Kabra, Truecaller’s product director for iOS, claims in a TechCrunch article that the app has had limited success with iOS devices because of how Apple deals with external third-party caller ID apps.

The current Truecaller call-identification framework is limited to a small pool of numbers that are selected by Truecaller’s spam algorithm and kept in directories within Apple’s CallKit framework. He claims that other numbers that aren’t locally saved will need to be manually located.

Apple’s Siri Shortcuts and App Intents are used by the system to deliver the desired live caller ID experience. On their iPhone devices, users must first enable the Search Truecaller shortcut by choosing the Add to Siri option from the Premium menu. The first time the shortcut is used, the user will be asked if they agree for Truecaller to search the screenshots it has taken.
