Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, has stated that no Australian was asked to take over as coach of the Indian cricket team

The formal application deadline for the position of coach of the Indian cricket team has passed. The deadline for submitting the Google Sheets was Monday. When word originally leaked out that the BCCI was searching for someone to replace Rahul Dravid as the coach of the Indian cricket team, a number of prominent names—the most of whom are connected to IPL teams—such as Gautam Gambhir, Stephen Fleming, Rocky Ponting, and Justin Langer, were making the rounds. Nonetheless, the majority of the foreign players made it known in the open that they would not be trying out for the squad.

Actually, according to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, no Australian was asked to take on the coaching position. He added that someone who is well-versed in the domestic structure would be appointed by BCCI. Following his remarks, it was widely believed that he was making a reference to an Indian coach who works with the Indian cricket team. As a result, VVS Laxman, the head of the National Cricket Academy, and Gautam Gambhir, the coach of the IPL winner Kolkata Knight Riders, became the most talked-about figures.

According to a story published on Cricbuzz, Jay Shah and Gautam Gambhir had an internal talk during the IPl 2024 final. “‘Desh ke liye karna hai’ is the catchphrase used inside the coach selection circle. Gambhir and the BCCI both think that “we must do it for the country.” Additionally, it is believed that this concept is at the heart of Jay Shah and Gambhir’s conversation,” the newspaper stated.

Gambhir has a history of showing off his patriotism, the source continued. It further stated that Gambhir has reportedly indicated in private that he is thinking about the BCCI’s strategy. Shah Rukh Khan, a co-owner of KKR, is informed of the development, the report continued.

No one has confirmed that Gautam Gambhir has submitted an official application to be the coach. It was previously reported that SRK desired Gambhir to have a long-term relationship with the IPL team. A report in Dainik Jagran claims that the actor even gave Gambhir a blank check last year to join KKR for ten years.
