The violence between two communities in Manipur, which began on May 3, is still ongoing. Meanwhile, in the case of the gang rape of two women in America, the reaction has come to the fore

This has been described as frightening and shocking in America.

Vedant Patel, a spokesman for the US State Department, said, “We are shocked to see the video of the attack on two women.” We express our heartfelt condolences to the victims and support the Government of India’s efforts to bring them to justice.

People and property in every community should be protected, according to the US State Department.

According to Patel, Indian Prime Minister Modi has stated that such behaviour towards women is deplorable in any civilised society. We have previously stated our support for a peaceful resolution to the Manipur issue and our hope that each community’s members and their property will be safeguarded.

If India requests assistance, the American ambassador said, “We are ready.”

This is an internal matter of India, according to earlier comments made by US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti. Anywhere they witness such violent acts, they are saddened. America had earlier on July 6 voiced concern regarding the unrest in Manipur.

Then, Eric Garcetti stated that we are prepared to assist India should it request it. We understand that this is an internal matter for India, and we hope for peace as soon as possible, he had said. The people are our only concern; we are not strategically worried about the circumstances in Manipur.

The issue of Manipur has been raised in the UK Parliament.

This matter has also been brought up in the British Parliament. On June 20, Fiona Bruce, MP and special ambassador for religious freedom in the United Kingdom, accused the BBC of failing to properly report the Manipur violence. Bruce raised concerns in Britain’s lower house about the hundreds of churches that have been burned in Manipur since May, killing over 100 people.

More than 50,000 people have been forced to flee their homes. Not only churches, but also schools affiliated with them, have been targeted. According to Bruce, all of this is clearly planned, and religion plays a significant role in these attacks.

The video of women being paraded in their knickers went viral on 19 July.

The incident in Thoubal district where two women were paraded in their pants happened on May 4 itself. On July 19, its video went viral on social media. In the video, it can be seen that some individuals took the two women, who were naked, and performed explicit acts on them.

A victim woman’s husband reported that “a mob of thousands of people had attacked the village.” I was unable to defend the villagers and my wife from the mob. Even the police could not protect us. For three hours, the mob kept on committing crimes against humanity. My wife managed to find refuge in a community.

The mother of the other woman in the video said, “Now we will never go back to our village,” at the same time. My daughter was embarrassed while my young son was murdered there. Everything is now finished for me.
