Tell us about the subject of your book, Khokhle Khambo Vali Imarat

There are four pillars of our country, India. They are the executive, legislative, judiciary, and media. This book talks about the hollowness of the system.

The story of this novel is based on incidents of political malpractice and the exploitation of women.

Politicians take votes from the people by making false promises and after elections, they live like kings. Very few people work with loyalty and honesty rest are all fake. They don’t reveal their true faces.

The generation of former Prime Ministers, e.g., Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Chandrashekhar, Charan Singh, etc., were gems and long gone. Political leaders like them don’t exist today. Organizations established by politicians are also merely a source of earning money.

The book also points out the challenges faced by women. Women have to pay a price if they want to move ahead in life. The exploitation of women in politics inspired me to write this book.

This novel exposes the political events of one of the states of India. which can be any state of the Hindi belt. If the characters of the story meet someone’s life, then it is just a coincidence.

How did Shyam Jangir become a writer?

When I look back at my life, I realize I was always meant to be a writer and nothing else. Since my boyhood days, I started writing. Even when I sat at my father’s shop, I wished customers would not come so that I could write quietly. I just wanted to read and write all the time.

I used to read many books in the library during my college days. I got published with my story collection then. Due to personal problems, there was a gap, but after that, I started writing again. People appreciated my work. Most of my writings have indeed been written at my shop.

I am satisfied with my books. People have widely read my writings.

What do you think about today’s literary landscape?

People are in a hurry today. Everyone wants to get famous, but with less time and effort. They are busy running the race to see who gets famous first. New writers get their work published immediately.

Youngsters are in haste and they don’t have enough patience. Consideration of your work first before publishing is important. Some young writers are writing really well, I must say. But leg-pulling has become very common and you must avoid it.

The literature has a long way to go.
