The top sporting accolade in India, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, is set to be given to Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the country’s best badminton men’s doubles team. The two have had an incredible year, making it to as many as six finals and taking home five wins. They took home victories at the Korea Open, Indonesia Open, Swiss Open, Asian Games, and Asian Championships. At the China Masters, they finished second.

India’s fastest player It has been learned that Mohammed Shami, who claimed 24 wickets to finish as the leading wickettaker in the ODI World Cup, is on the shortlist for the Arjuna Award. In addition to becoming the first Indian doubles team to reach the pinnacle of the international game, Satwik-Chirag made history this year by becoming the first Indian doubles team to rank #1 in the world rankings of the BWF.

Chirag Shetty, a badminton player, and Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy are the nominees for the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award in sports.

Mohammed Shami for cricket, Ajay Reddy for blind cricket, Ojas Pravin Deotale, Aditi Gopichand Swami for archery, Sheetal Devi for para archery, Parul Chaudhary and M Sreeshankar for athletics, Mohd Hussamuddin for boxing, R Vaishali for chess, Divyakriti Singh and Anush Agarwalla for equestrian sports, Diksha Dagar for golf, Krishan Bahadur Pathak and Sushila Chanu for hockey, Pinky for lawn tennis, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar for shooting, Antim Panghal for wrestling, and Ayhika Mukherjee for table tennis were the recipients of the Arjuna Award.

Dhyan Chand Lifetime Award winners are Vineet Kumar Sharma (hockey), Manjusha Kanwar (badminton), and Kavita (kabaddi).

Ganesh Prabhakaran in mallakhamb, Mahavir Saini in paraathletics, Lalit Kumar in wrestling, RB Ramesh in chess, and Shivendra Singh in hockey are the recipients of the Dronacharya Award.
