The fasting of Navratri begins on Tuesday 27 September 2022 for the month of Ashwina. Navratri celebrates the victory of good on evil. The festival celebrates the goddess Durga and her nine avatars.
Navratri is one of the largest festivals of the Hindu religion. There are four Navratri in a year, but only two are widely celebrated: Chaitra Navratri (March-April) and Sharad Navratri (October-November).
Those who observe a fast by consuming only one meal a day can break the fast only after sunset. Conversely, those on a fruit and dairy diet can consume food at regular intervals. Fasting can help improve your overall health. The benefits of fasting are that it can help control blood pressure, reduce cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, obesity and inflammation in the body, lower blood sugar levels, and increase metabolism.
Tip 1 – If you are fasting during Navratri, you will not be able to consume protein or carbohydrates. Instead, you can have kuttu or buckwheat based rotis. Samak rice or farmyard millet can also be part of their diet.
Tip 2 – As an excellent source of protein, amaranth can be included in your diet to help keep you full for a longer period of time. Additionally, the combination of carbohydrate-rich foods such as potatoes and sabudana with fibrous vegetables such as cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, squash, etc. will provide your body with essential nutrients.
Tip 3: To make up for the nutrients you will lose while fasting, you can consume coconut juice and water to replenish lost nutrients. Drinking more fluids will also keep you energized.
Tip 4: For healthier options and more energy, you can replace frying with broiled, broiled, air or oven cooking.
Tip 5: Replace refined sugar with jaggery or honey instead of refined sugar in your recipes.
