Around 3 p.m. on Thursday, terrorists opened fire on an army truck in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Following this, the truck caught fire, resulting in the deaths of 5 soldiers. The military believes unidentified terrorists may have also thrown grenades at the truck. The fire was started by this.

According to information provided in a statement released by the Northern Command Headquarters, the truck transporting the soldiers was travelling from Bhimber Gali to Poonch. Rain was falling. Also very low was visibility. The terrorists benefited from this. In the attack, a jawan also sustained serious injuries. He is now a patient at the Rajouri army hospital.

The Rashtriya Rifles Unit was mentioned in the statement along with the soldiers who were killed. He was involved in the local terrorists’ ongoing retaliation operations. An army official had earlier stated that the soldiers’ deaths were caused by a fire in the truck. It was also believed that lightning was to blame for the truck’s fire.

After slipping through snow in Machil in January, the vehicle crashed into a deep gorge, killing three soldiers.

On January 11, this year, an army officer and two soldiers were killed in the Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Machil sector. All three were members of the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps. This team, consisting of one JCO (Junior Commissioned Officer) and two OR (Other Ranks), had left for regular duty. His car slipped and fell into a deep gorge due to the snow.

Naib Subedar Purushottam Kumar, Havaldar Amrik Singh, and Constable Amit Sharma were among those killed.

In December of last year, 16 soldiers were killed.

In December of last year, an army truck fell into a gorge near Jema in Sikkim, killing 16 soldiers. The army had two additional vans. From Chatan, all three vehicles set out for Thangu. The truck skidded at a turn and fell into the ditch on the way. Four soldiers were seriously injured in this accident and were later airlifted.

Three jawans were hit by an avalanche in the Machil neighbourhood of Kupwara in November of last year as well. Two jawans were successfully extricated from the snow. When the incident occurred, five members of the 56 Rashtriya Rifles were out on routine patrol. As soon as the accident’s details were learned, the rescue effort was launched, but three jawans had already perished by the time the jawans were evacuated.
