1. The Vigyan Ratna Award (VR)

2. The Vigyan Shri Award (VS)

3. The Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award (VY-SSB)

4. Award for Vigyan Team (VT)

Innovative discoveries frequently result from collaborative efforts. Teams of three or more scientists, researchers, or inventors who have made remarkable contributions while cooperating in any area of science and technology are given the VT Award.

The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar covers 13 areas, ensuring thorough acknowledgement of accomplishments across the board of science and technology. Another important factor that ensures representation in all fields is gender parity.

Rigorous Selection Process The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar Committee (RVPC) carefully examines all nominations for the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar awards. The RVPC is led by the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India and is made up of prominent scientists and technologists from diverse sectors of science and technology as well as secretaries of scientific departments and members of science and engineering academies. As a result, the selection process is conducted with the utmost transparency and impartiality.

The Schedule for Nominations

Every year, on or around National Science Day in January, nominations are sought for these distinguished awards. Nominations are accepted through February 28th. On May 11, National Technology Day, the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar winners are formally announced. On August 23, National Space Day, the award ceremony is held for all categories. Each prize comes with a medal and a certificate, or Sanad.
