A REPORT ON 9th INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION 2023 In DAV Centenary Public School

Since its inception in the year 2015, June 21st is celebrated as The International Day of Yoga all over the world to raise awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world. Yoga is a practice which plays an important role in relaxing the mind and body and boosting people’s immune system.The theme selected for this year’s International Day of Yoga 2023 is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which represents our shared desire for “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

DAV has always endeavored to cater to the development of the all – round personality of its students – imparting knowledge, developing skills and instilling values. 9th International Yoga Day was celebrated by the school NCC team, students and teachers of DAV Centenary Public School, Jaipur, with great enthusiasm under the dynamic guidance of Principal Shri AK Sharma in the school premises.

The event began with a brief introduction on Yoga Day by Ms. Priyanka Joshi and by welcoming the yoga enthusiasts.

The yoga session began with the Gayatri Mantra. Ms. Kakali Pachhar, school Physical Education teacher, was the resource person for the day. Warm up exercises were taken up and all the participants performed sitting and standing asanas, and the importance of these were explained simultaneously. It was a visual treat to watch the energetic students and the vibrant teacher’s sync their minds and bodies to the idyllic chanting of ‘Om’.

School Principal, Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma took active participation in this yoga day celebration and in his speech inspired everyone to take up yoga for a healthy lifestyle. He emphasized on disciplining the body and mind as the first step to yoga. Yoga provides a path to happiness by fostering a deep connection with oneself and the world. Through regular practice, individuals develop self-awareness, mindfulness, and a sense of inner peace. It also helps in improving flexibility, strength, and balance.

The event concluded with a pledge to integrate yoga in our life by practicing it regularly and adopting yoga for a healthy lifestyle, followed by Shanti path.

With each passing year the Yoga Day celebrations are becoming bigger and better, synchronizing the untapped energy of youngsters in the positive and true spirit.
We all celebrated the day with a lot of eagerness and joy. It was a very interesting day for all of us and the experience we got was really amazing and worthwhile.
