The speculations going on for the last 15 days were pacified by Prashant Kishor refusing to join the Congress. Prashant said that Congress needs good leadership and massive change, not mine.

Recently, Prashant Kishor gave a 600-page presentation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Then Sonia had sought advice from the 8-member committee on the inclusion of PK in the party. The committee had asked Prashant to leave the company of others before joining the Congress.

On Tuesday, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted – Congress President formed an Empowered Action Group 2024 and invited Prashant Kishor to join the group, but he refused. We appreciate the efforts and suggestions made by him for the party.

Prashant Kishor said – Congress does not need me

After Surjewala’s statement, Prashant also wrote in a tweet- I have rejected Congress’ offer to be part of EAG (Empowered Action Group), join the party and take responsibility for the elections. In my opinion, to fix the internal problems of the party, Congress needs more leadership and stronger will than me.

Earlier, in the 600-page presentation that PK gave to the Congress, it was told to suggest ways for the party to return to power. He gave three formulas. First- Congress fought elections alone in the whole country. Second- Congress should come with all parties to defeat BJP and Modi and strengthen UPA. Third- In some places Congress fought alone and in some places fought together with allies.

However, many Congress veterans had already shunned Prashant. PK himself was camping in Hyderabad for 2 days at the house of Telangana Chief Minister KCR.

6 new committees formed

Randeep Surjewala said that the Empowered Action Group (EAG) will decide what will be the policy in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In the meeting held on Monday at 10 Janpath, the Congress took a big decision regarding the future, under which 6 new committees were formed. Mallikarjun Kharge, Salman Khurshid, P Chidambaram, Mukul Wasnik, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Amarinder Singh Waring will serve as separate conveners of all these committees.

Sonia Gandhi formed a committee of Congress leaders to consider Prashant joining the party. The committee wanted Prashant to distance himself from all other political parties and then surrender completely to the Congress. PK had suggested that the Congress tie up with regional parties like Mamata Banerjee’s TMC and KCR’s TRS.
