The JMM has charged that the BJP-led Center uses investigative organizations for political ends

Jharkhand’s Ranchi Chief Minister Hemant Soren turned up in Ranchi today. The BJP had branded him “missing” after Enforcement Directorate (ED) agents were unable to find him for more than 24 hours. Mr. Soren departed his Ranchi home today to meet with MLAs from the Jharkhand government coalition. He was last spotted in Delhi on Sunday night.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader has made a reappearance in the midst of hectic political happenings in Ranchi and Delhi. In an attempt to quiz him about money laundering, ED agents had gone to his Delhi house yesterday, but they were unable to find him. In addition to seizing Mr. Soren’s BMW and ₹ 36 lakh in cash, the agency was unable to locate him at either of his Delhi residences or Jharkhand Bhavan.

The BJP began saying that the Chief Minister was “on the run” amid the developments. Additionally, State BJP Chief Babulal Marandi released an advertisement requesting information regarding Mr. Soren and offering a ₹ 11,000 cash reward for any reliable leads.

On the other hand, the JMM insisted that they communicate with the Chief Minister. Congress, a party to JMM, claimed that the BJP’s “missing” claim is part of a plot to set up conditions for the imposition of President’s rule in the state. As previously said, Governor CP Radhakrishnan is closely monitoring the situation. “I am carrying out the governor’s duties. “No one is above the law, and we will cross the bridge when it comes,” he said to reporters.

As for the ruling alliance, which consists of the JMM, Congress, and RJD, all of its MLAs have been ordered to remain in Ranchi, which has led to conjecture about what will happen next.

Dr. Nishikant Dubey, a Jharkhand leader and BJP MP, has claimed that plans are in motion to appoint Mr. Soren’s wife Kalpana as Chief Minister. “JMM, Congress, and associated MLAs, along with Hemant Soren ji, have been invited to come to Ranchi with their bags and luggage. In a post on X, he asserted that there is a plan to name Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren ji, as Chief Minister.

Mr. Soren is under investigation in relation to a purported mafia plot in Jharkhand involving an unauthorized transfer of land ownership. In this case, the ED has detained 14 people thus far.

Days after Mr. Soren was questioned on January 20, the JMM has questioned why a new summons was sent out, accusing the BJP-led Centre of utilizing inquiry agencies for political purposes. The Chief Minister had informed them that he would be available for questioning on Wednesday, but they nonetheless took offense at the ED for sending armed officers to his Delhi home yesterday.
